About

I am a husband, pastor, and follower of Jesus Christ. I have the privilege of serving as pastor of Living Stone Baptist Church. (Though I’m pastor there, of course, the thoughts and ramblings on this blog are mine and do not necessarily represent those of Living Stone Baptist Church.)  I’m humbled to lead such a great group of Christ-followers, who allow me the grace to grow & fail with them as we serve the Lord together. I graduated from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Cordova, TN, where I earned a Master of Divinity degree. Prior to that, I received a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Tennessee at Martin (Go Skyhawks!). My passion in life is to see people experience the joy of a life that is lived with singular devotion to the glory of Christ (Psalm 115:1; John 10:10).

Primarily, this blog is a place where I share insights and experiences from my walk with Jesus as I continue my journey of faith.  I hope that sharing what God is doing in my life helps strengthen and encourage you in your faith journey, too.

Thus far, my entire pastoral ministry experience has been at a church plant in a rural community of about 3,295 people in Southeast Missouri (hey, you count ’em all when you’re that small!). I spent the first 22 years of my life attending a church in a rural community of 12,000 people in Northwest Tennessee. Therefore, some of the space on this blog will be devoted to discussing issues that are unique to ministry in a rural setting.

The ministry issues I discuss on this blog vary broadly.  One of the great challenges and joys of my ministry are the many “hats” I get to wear as pastor of a smaller church.  Pastor, youth pastor, small groups pastor, children’s pastor, worship pastor, administrator–these are all areas in which I’m regularly involved.  I like to think the old saying, “Jack of all trades, master of none,” applies to my ministry.  I enjoy being stretched and challenged by the requirements of my ministry setting.  Hey, at least it’s never boring!

In addition to blogging, I enjoy being playing sports, running, cycling, reading, and cooking.  I love my wife, Allison, and enjoy spending time with her.  She and I enjoy playing tennis & basketball together, as well as camping & hiking.  Recently, we’ve been training together for a half-marathon.  She maintains a blog about our family life here.

Thanks for reading this blog, and for journeying through life with me!
